From Clinician To Leader And Department Chair At Uc San Francisco With Dr Lisa Kroon

Today on the podcast, we have Dr Lisa Kroon. She is the chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at UC San Francisco, one of the premier pharmacy programs in the country. Dr Kroon is responsible for setting the strategy, priorities, and goals for the clinical pharmacy program.

For example, one of the things she participated in driving forward was the innovative shift of UCSF’s pharmacy program from a 4 year curriculum to a 3 year curriculum after having taken into account the additional year of living cost the pharmacy students save.

In this conversation, Dr Kroon and I discuss the role of pharmacists beyond what we typically see in a community pharmacy setting at safeway, vons, walgreens and CVS.

What her vision for the role of a pharmacist is becoming and how UCSF is preparing future pharmacists to fill that role

Dr Kroon was originally trained to be a clinician but now leads a large department at UC San Francisco. We discussed how she became the leader she is today.

What books helped her, how she grew up and how she hired an executive coach to guide her to become the best leader she can be.

I really enjoyed this wide ranging conversation with Dr. Lisa Kroon. Hope you do too! Let me know your thoughts on instagram. @ideasbykevin and @trailblazershow
